Favicon for Squarespace

Updated October 13, 2026

Squarespace calls the favicon the Browser Icon. You upload a single square image and Squarespace serves it to browsers.

Steps

  1. Make a square PNG with the favicon generator. A 512×512 PNG from the ZIP works well. You can also use the ICO file.
  2. Open your site's design settings and find Logo & Title.
  3. Look for the Browser Icon field and upload your file.
  4. Save, then view your live site in a private window.

Squarespace menus differ between versions 7.0 and 7.1 and change over time. If you cannot find the option, search Squarespace's help center for “browser icon”.

Why it may not update

  • Browsers cache favicons for a long time. Try a private window or another browser.
  • Make sure you uploaded a square image; wide images get squashed or cropped.
  • Allow some time. Search engines can take days or weeks to show a new icon.
